Location The camp is located on the periphery of the Corbett Tiger Reserve in Village Bhakrakot about 300 kilometres from Delhi. Camp Forktail Creek is situated in the midst of a dense Sal forest on the north-eastern periphery of Corbett Tiger Reserve. Situated in the village of Bhakrakot, the camp is surrounded by mixed deciduous forests that are extremely rich in wildlife and bird-life. Hikes in these forests are very rewarding for bird-watching, apart from the pleasure of sighting animals on foot. Rooms Accommodation is in safari style huts made of mud or tents and the camp organises outdoor activities such as birding, fishing, and elephant safaris and so on. Camp Forktail Creek insists on on experience that is as close to nature as possible, and hence does not have electricity, but instead achieves lighting by lanterns. This ensures that animals do not get disturbed and scare away. Camp Forktail Creek has 11 luxury safari styled tents appointed with attached semi tiled toilets with running cold water. 8 spacious safari tents on raised wooden floors are well spaced for privacy. Each tent has a deck and a fully functional toilet, where hot water is provide in buckets, twice a day. The furnishings in each tent include a chest of drawers with a dressing mirror, twin beds with soft duvets, side tables, deck chairs and a luggage table. 3 mud huts, specially created by local craftsmen have recently replaced three of the tents. Each have thick thatched roofs, a private veranda and attached toilets. Furnishings are similar to the tents. Dining The Thatch is the dining and lounge area built out of grass and wood locally. Around the thatch is the campfire pit and barbecue area, which provide for campfires and barbecues after sundown. The Dhaba or tea point, a hot favorite amongst all, is where hot tea or coffee is brewed in a fashion typical to the region. Services & Facilities Camp Fork Tail offers a variety of adventure activities such as bird watching, fishing, elephant safaris, treks and hikes. The Machan is a double leveled structure with a lounge and a little souvenir cupboard on the lower floor and a spacious library cum lookout on the top floor. The Acre is a hideout amidst dense lantana bushes for bird watching or relaxing in the hammocks/rugs placed there. There is an ancient Banyan tree with ample space in its shadow for hammocks and casual seating. A campfire area with a barbeque pit has been created for the cold winter evenings. Please note: It is always advisable to book safaris prior to arrival, especially during weekends as there are only 60 vehicles allowed inside the National Park at a time. Depending on the no. of guests, the estimated cost of safari vehicles will be between Rs 2600- Rs 3000. Guests can directly contact the hotels and book their safaris.
