Book South Gate Guesthouse
This was an old residence/clinic/dorm built in 1972 and was recently transformed into a 1970s style Taiwanese guesthouse. There are a wide variety of rooms to fit different budgets: shared bath, private rooms or suites, or mixed dorm rooms. It is the only guesthouse on this quiet street, with a shady walkway leading to an old fort wall ruin and South Gate. A block away from the old town street with lots of eateries and shops. Enjoy the quiet evening with a neighboring church and local residences. Located in the heart of old Heng Chun town, 2 blocks away from the main Heng Chun transit station where you catch express bus to high speed rail and other major train stations. Hire a taxi or rent a motorcycle (the most popular form of transportation) near the transit station. Furnished with wood furniture from Chiang Kai-Shek's martial law era, artwork from South East Asia, the guesthouse gives you an authentic experience to 1970s Taiwan. The only B&B in town that has a large courtyard and a roof top viewing deck. BBQ with the host in the yard, have morning coffee or afternoon tea on the roof top to see the distant Quan Mountain and sunset. It offers more than a room to spend the night.
